So, New Year's was a week ago and I've been thinking about other things than updating my blog. I've gotten much farther along on my Xlib tutorial, and I've been working with Rior to get a usable system for posting comments. If I get ambitious, I'll port it to use on my main weblog as well.

**************

Marchan worked the pebbles he had gotten out of the elven mine. He could see they were of some mineral, but he didn't know what. He carefully held them to the light of the fire, even tried heating them, but the fire would not give enough heat to melt them. Day by day, the storms continued, refusing to let up. On one day when the storms had actually stopped and the sun was shining they made to leave, but Pedro would not hear of it. He insisted that they stay. The storms would get them again within hours. And indeed the next storm came in almost within two hours.

The long winter nights made for a somewhat cozy time, Trevor and Marchan learned to speak the local language and Joanna and Micheal learned the language that was spoken in the King's Capital. Even their mother and father learned a few expressions and encouraged their children in the learning. 'Knowing more is better,' Pedro said.

He asked about the language of the dwarves, but Marchan explained that he didn't know it, having been brought up among the race of men.

I'm afraid that's all for now.

X and Opera

I've finally got X running properly on my home linux box. It was a stupid thing with gpm messing me up.

I've also got the first lesson of my xlib tutorial up. It's available at xopendisplay.hilltopia.ca for now. I may eventually move it to a .com of some sort or other. It seriously needs some web design, but I'm not worried just yet. The information is there, which is the important part.
